Records for Awareness

8 Days for LIFE

In this event board member Kelly Bush will be attempting to break the record for longest time spent during a static cycling marathon. Kelly will be attempting to set an astounding Guinness World Record by cycling for 190 hours.

8 Days for LIFE will be our first multi-charity event. As we've said before Eric had a BIG heart and liked to help others, went want to be able to do the same in our efforts. We want to help affect others the way Eric did and we hope that by partnering with other charities we can come together to accomplish common goals; helping others.

Our Guinness claim number for this event is 231346 and from the looks of it, well have someone from the Guinness World Records team onsite to certify the achievement.

Below is the Guinness Record for the current holder:

The longest spinning marathon is 7 days, 14 hours and 2 minutes (182 hours 2 minutes) and was achieved by Patrizio Sciroli (Italy) at Tossicia, Teramo, Italy, from 27 June to 5 July 2008.

Patrizio broke the previous record which was set by George Hood:

12 May - Sweat, determination and a life-long dream helped George E. Hood pedal his way to a well-earned Guinness World Record at the Fry Family YMCA in Naperville, Illinois. With the dedicated help of Kathleen Lewandowski, Preston Bokos, and dozens of other volunteers, Hood was able to cycle an incredible total of 177 hours 45 minutes, beating the previous marathon static cycling record of 175 hours 50 minutes. Hood relied on careful planning, resourceful thinking, and his physical talents to earn this new world record title. He also used the passion in his heart to transform his event into an awareness elevating fund raiser to benefit the YMCAs Strong Kids Campaign: one of the organizations premier youth enrichment programs. After cycling 2616.35 miles on his static cycle, Hoods record-breaking effort helped raised over $30,000 for the YMCAs campaign, in what he calls a story with a heart.
